Duplicated emails - One for each "cc" on the Global Address List
I have recently had complaints from two SBS 2003 sites running Exchange Server SP2/MS Office Outlook 2003. Some emails are received in multiples. We have at least managed to establish that this problem occurs only with emails that are "CC" to members of the Global Address List. If the email is addressed"TO" only one recipient then there is no problem. As soon as the recipient list includes other members of the Global Address List the duplication occurs - one duplication for each person in the "CC" list. Any suggestions?

The only time I have seen this, it was AV software fault. /Lasse

I have exactly the same problem on one of my SBS servers (Same Spec as yours). Its not the AV software. The catch-all account receives more than one message (one for every TO or CC) that the Exchange distributes to everyone in the TO and CC fields. Do you have an answer for the problem yet?

Hi, I have this problem with one of my clients, I found an MS KB article on this but for love nor money can I find it now.... I found the problem was with the ISP who hosts the POP Catch All Account. When they received an email addressed to multiple addresses on the same domain they created multiple copies of that email (To be exact one for eachuser within that domain) Then when Exchange collecet these emails from the POP account it distrubuted them again (one for each person). I'll post the details from MS when I find the article... Cheers, Dave

Thanks Dave You're exactly right. If your ISP can't (won't?) fix the problem for you then the only thing left is to create separate pop3 mailboxes in the mailbox manager and only use a "catch all" for other things likeincorrect email addresses and forewarning of virus/trojan/spam attacks. I'd forgotten about this thread.....!
